Looking back to 2016

Looking back to 2016

2016 was an eventful year for our country as well as for rest of the world.  As we look back there were a lot of positives in the bygone year and we can learn from our mistakes committed in 2016 and make our future better.
At the end of the year, we saw a fair and peaceful election taking place in Narayanganj and it made everyone hope for better prospects for democracy in the country.
The holy Artisan Bakery incident will be remembered as a painful incident and will prepare us against any possible recurrence of similar incident in future.
Hundreds of thousands of Rohingya are fleeing their homes in Myanmar and taking refuge in Bangladesh as they are being subjected to ethnic cleansing by the rulers of that country.  The Nobel Peace Prize winner and Myanmar's most popular leader, Aung Sung Su Ki, is being criticised around the world for being silent on the issue.  Donald Trump, being elected as the president of the US, is a shock to the world.  Former president of Cuba, Fidel Castro, died this year.
The England tour of Bangladesh was very important and the Tigers managed to draw the two test series by 1-1. Tigers lost the one-day series by 2-1 but their result was very impressive. The man of the year was surely Mustafizur Rahman whose clever pace bowling surprised the world and he got the award of best emerging cricketer 2016 declared by ICC. I hope, 2017 will be a better year for the world and for us as well. We shall continue to move ahead with sustainable growth. Mohammed Sohel Hara
